The City of Sulphur encourages business growth by providing assistance to a prospective business or industry. This includes Enterprise Zones and bond programs, as well as technical assistance. The Louisiana Department of Economic Development offers business incentives in the form of tax exemptions.

- In 1996, the City of Sulphur received a National Scenic Byway Designation "Gateway to the Creole Nature Trail" - This All American Road is a driving & walking tour through the marshlands and beaches of Calcasieu and Cameron parishes.
